Next steps for our bid

Four of us attended a digital challenge workshop in London a couple of weeks ago where we heard more about the expectations of the digital challenge team and some practical points about how we move forward in this next stage. The first thing to note is that the deadline for our final bid has now been moved back to the 19th January and that the judging is expected to take place in February.

The judging criteria will be the same as in the last round, ie: social inclusion; innovation and transformation; economic, social and environmental; tangible benefits; partnerships and the potential to be a UK exemplar. Transformation of public services was said to be critical.

The format of our bid will need to include a refined explanation (including social inclusion); detail of how the benefits will be realised; detail of implementation (and service transformation); skills audit and capacity check; budget; approach to risk management and risk register; detailed explanation of partnership – governance and operations.

We will also need to incorporate the environmental impact; technology architecture diagram; story boards of user journeys; details of how we will be an exemplar; summary of evolution of bid including reasons why there are any changes; summary of the vision and details of how the £120k has been spent.

Bids should be no longer than 10,000 words and can include videos etc. All the outputs from the workshop (powerpoint and two briefing notes) are available on the connecting bristol website

There are still aspects that are being resolved – particularly how the industry contributions will be realised which still seems a little vague at present. Hopefully we will have more feedback on this by the time of the next momentum group meeting which is scheduled to take place at 4pm on Wednesday 13th September at the Watershed. This will be our first chance to start planning the content of our bid so hope to see you there.
