(Disclosure - I work for <a rel="nofollow" title="Futurelab home page" target="_blank" href="http://www.futurelab.org.uk/" rel="nofollow">Futurelab</a>)

Technology should (could) never be a replacement for a good, motivated teacher. I'm certain that a good, motivated teacher would not let their young charges roam the less salubious areas of Bristol un-supervised, whatever learning activity they were engaged in.

The quick intro video shows the enjoyment and learning arising more from the collaborative process of generating the mediascapes than from the wandering the streets part.

At least, that's what I think. ;)

For a keen user of free software, it's lovely to see users are being encouraged to use the open source Audacity audio editor for this project.

On the other hand, I would question the wisdom of fitting children with headphones and letting them wander the streets; in some areas of the city, this would be equivalent to painting "Rob me!" in big letters on their backs. What does anyone else think?
