Connecting Bristol web stats

I have just been looking at the web stats for the Connecting Bristol site and thought people might be interested to know that since January we have had 39,441 visits to the site, which averages out at 589 people coming to see us every day. Plus there has been 2,970 views of the final bid we submitted to Government.

Unfortunately web stats are never completely accurate, but in this case we use Google’s Urchin package which counts visitors in ’sessions’ – a session is initiated when the visitor arrives at the site, and it ends when the browser is closed or there is a period of inactivity.

We can also track the domains of the visitors. The bulk of web traffic is from UK, net, com, and org domains (mostly US-based), but actual country codes, which in most cases are reliable indicators of the origin of the traffic, include Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Brazil and Russia.
