Pervasive Media commissioning scheme launched

Bringing together leading technology, artistic and media talent, Media Sandbox is a new commissioning scheme to support South West companies/organisations to research emerging possibilities in digital media.Media Sandbox is looking to make six catalytic investments in innovative Research and Development pilots which exploit opportunities in digital media presented by pervasive computing/wireless technologies. The scheme is an entirely unique opportunity for SMEs to collaboratively create radical new products and processes – pushing forward understanding and potential usage of next generation digital media.

Project Neptune Light Up Dyrham Park

On 26th October 2007, Project Neptune will recreate the grandeur of Dyrham Park’s lost gardens through a compelling combination of pyrotechnic effects, lighting, video-projections, performance and sound. Young people from Monks Park School Bristol and a crack team of experienced arts professionals will stage a spectacular outdoor event at a late 17th century mansion near Bath, managed by the The National Trust.

Project Neptune seeks to interest young people in heritage. It is staged in association with artist Nathan Hughes and Dyrham Park’s Education Department.

European eInclusion

The European Commission is launching an advance call for contributions from individuals and organisations that believe they have valuable experience and information to share as part of the European e-Inclusion Initiative in 2008. This could be an event being planned, a major new initiative, an report or a project to overcome barriers for people using IT. The call for contributions will be open from 8th October 2007 as the first step of the campaign “e-Inclusion: be part of it” that the European Commission will launch at the end of 2007. Experiences and information can be shared at the eInclusion Portal website.
