Bristol is number one for Creativity on Google.

February 5, 2008 Posted by Matt in : Bristol , trackback

Matt from Montage Montage Communications, challenges the assumption that Bristol is best known for its slavery past and shows that we are best known on Google for our creativity.

Analysis on the Google Trends site (which analyses the number of times a search term is used on Google) shows that Bristol is the number one city in the UK that searches for “creative” . The explanation behind this shows a strong following for the Creative City 2008 bid and an ongoing drive to promote creative industries and media in Bristol. This creative movement has overtaken Liverpool which was awarded the City of Culture “Create 2008″.
Interestingly, Leeds in Yorkshire is the most googled for slavery in the UK, whilst slavery in Bristol has taken a back seat to search terms such as Concorde.

Actually, doesn't this mean that more people in Bristol are seeking Creativity?

Is there any way to find out where all those searches are leading?

I guess John's right… and more importantly I guess there are more people looking for creativity than slavery… Progress!

Which city in the entire world searches for Creativity? That's what I'd like to know.
And, John, if you put in a google alert for creativity posts, you'll see what they're seeing. That's how I found this post.

Google trends is no exact science regarding the thoughs of a city or nation. I think that this research shows that creative thoughs are front of mind in Bristol. The number one city in the world for creativity is Singapore, then Deli and Mumbi in India.

Rather ominiously the UK is ranked eigth in the world for 'creativity' searches ……

Matt may be right, but the fact creative searches in Bristol is high does it not show we are fast improving. Lets be positive.
