That’s Edutainment

If you want people to listen, its not just what you say but how you say it…anyone who has yawned their way through a series of dreary afternoon talks or lectures knows this.

At Connecting Bristol, we always strive to present things in an interesting and lively way and admire others who do the same. Now there are some words that help us to describe this, Edutainment or even Presentainment™, which, with the help of humour, interactions, multi-media and/or entertainment, turns your presentation into an experience that makes use of all your listeners’ senses!

The TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) website brings together videos lectures from some of the world’s leading purveyors of edutainment.

Charles Leadbeatter’s video presentation on ‘the rise of the amateur professional’ throws out many challenges – is creativity the preserve of special people in special places or can children in education and NHS patients also become co-designers of public services rather than just passive consumers?

If you want to ask Charles for his thoughts on this, he is speaking live in Bristol on 14th May 2008, 6-7pm at the Watershed.
