Green mapping

Green maps show sites of environmental significance such as green goods and services, areas of open space, toxic hot-spots etc. They make use of a broadly recognised set of map icons called the Green Map System developed in New York in the 1990s. Green mapping has the potential to facilitate the spread of innovative greening ideas from place to place. Over 200 green maps have been published around the world in both printed and digital form.

Green Bristol piloted a project with funding from Community at Heart in the New Deal for Communities area (Barton Hill, Redfield, Lawrence Hill, The Dings). They were awarded funding recently from Community at Heart to commission an independent evaluation of the pilot. Conrad Peberdy, former Director of BEST (Bristol East Side Traders) carried out the evaluation. The report is now available for download.
