		<description>Hi Kevin.  Interesting project.  I used to work for CARTC who were part of the EC market transformation programme on energy efficiency.  Basically I went around measuring power consumption from home electrical appliances!  Know a great guy called Bob who&#039;s into all this (http://www.eeph.org.uk).

Some interesting observations - such as flat panels using less power than CRTs.  There are lots of initiatives around reducing consumption of devices (standby-power, using ECO PC functions, power throttling etc).

A simple household solution would be a &quot;master&quot; switch to turn off all sockets and lights when you go out.....</description>
