Hi Ed, I know Ning, great site/facility... but blocked by many council's filters, (too risky?!). I don't know pathable or crowdvine... yet!

Good work all; sounds interesting indeed.

Pre-event there is always pathable or crowdvine, or using ning would be good for following up etc... depends on the purpose of the event...

Look forward to next meet up :)

Thanks to everyone who came along to Friday's barcamp planning meeting, which saw the first (and possibly not the last) person walk out in anger.

In a nutshell, people are happy to go for it, probably in October. We need to find a venue that will cope with 100 people (we have some ideas including the new Museum of Bristol). We need to decide if this is a Localgov camp, or a digital city camp... or a combination of the two. We need to decide how important it is to sign people up to follow-up actions. We need to see how much Bristol CC will commit to following-up on ideas. Our friends at Delib will explore what they can offer by way of pre-event on line support. Our soon-to-be-friends at Huddle are also keen to help support the event. We might invite Dave Briggs down to talk to us

More to follow soon

Hi Tim, thanks. I agree but... I know that others have more varied interests than local government, such as combining eco innovation and social media. The 09 event could be broad enough to address several themes, or focussed on one - it is up to the open planning group to decide... come along!

Hi,

I was one of the organisers of the first BarCamp Bristol, and latterly BathCamp (in Bath, unsurprisingly).

From my point of view, it would be good to say "this is LocalGovCamp (which is using the BarCamp format)" rather than saying "This is Bristol BarCamp". I don't wish to seem possessive of the name, but generic BarCamps generally don't have a particular theme or focus, whereas this event is going to be focused on Local Government issues.

Best of luck with the event.
