The Knowle West Media Centre is a UK Online centre and as part of the national Get Online Week KWMC is holding a Get Online Day on Friday the 23rd of October.
The all day event will feature:
- Prizes for the oldest person participating and for the best story about how getting on line has helped
- Open training workshops offering support for complete beginners and help for the more advanced
- A special social networking workshop introducing older people to Facebook and setting up a local Facebook group to act as a centre and focus for on-going work with older people in the South Bristol community
- Workshops with the local community management partnership and local residents on the newly developed knowlewest.co.uk community website
- A Green Mapping workshop in conjunction with the EU Green Mapping project developing media (mobile phone video, images & sound) in the local community and uploading it to the online Knowle West Green Map.
- Promotion of recently developed online businesses in the local community
- Promotion of the Knowle West Web community wireless Internet project which offers free connection, free recycled computers and free training to local people
