“Visit Bristol” iPhone App launched

Destination Bristol have developed an iPhone app to help locals and visitors navigate the City and find the best sights, attractions, events, accommodation, food, drink and shopping.

Users can use the iPhone’s GPS integration to find their way between places, and can save locations of particular interest to their own personal itinerary.

The app is available for £1.19 from the itunes app store.

I can understand that it takes money to develop (and maintain) apps like this, but to charge £1.19 for it? Surely there are alternative revenue streams that would enable either a 59p price, or preferably even free.

iPhone users, despite clearly having the money to buy an expensive phone, are notoriously reluctant to cough up even the price of a bar of chocolate for an app. If we're serious about promoting Bristol, this should definitely be made free.

It’s great to see city apps popping up around the iphone world! If your using an iphone you shouldn’t have a problem with the internet access.
