Free Event: Digital Bristol Week, 26 January to 1 February.

One of the largest free programmes of events, workshops and panels ever to be held in Bristol is taking place this January in the form of Digital Bristol Week.

The week-long schedule of networking, training and knowledge exchange for the creative industries is being hosted and produced by the BBC Bristol Partnership.

Each day has a different theme and focus. Events range from presentations on the future of broadcasting to workshops on key skills such as production management, while also taking in technology demonstrations, leadership seminars, social events and much more.

Places are limited and there is sure to be a huge demand. Places can be booked through eventbrite.

Programme

26 and 27 January – Games Jam

There are many ways to exploit a brand beyond broadcast, but do video games have a role to play? Creative England, Ex-Play and the BBC are offering a chance for broadcasters to take a detailed look at how to tell a story via a digital game.

Monday 28 January – Core Skills Day

Develop essential industry skills in workshops on everything from production management to risk assessment, and get hands on at the BBC Digital Village.

Tuesday 29 January – Technology Day

Get the lowdown on cutting-edge research, technology and startup businesses at our huge technology fair.

There will also be workshops, panel sessions, and plenty of time for networking thanks to an evening social event from Bristol Media.

Wednesday 30 January – Broadcast and Beyond Day

Dive into the future of broadcasting with a day devoted to emerging formats and digital experiences curated by the Pervasive Media Studio, UWE and iDocs.

There’s a day-long schedule of conference sessions featuring top industry talent, plus workshops on everything from second screen to developing apps.

Thursday 31 January - Open Day, Skills Development and Digital Production Partnership Meeting

Find out about skills and talent requirements direct from the industry, and take part in workshops designed to support those delivering student training.

Bristol Media’s Open Doors initiative will be offering the chance to visit key businesses in the area and learn first-hand about what they do and the skills they are looking for.

Friday 1 February – Business Day

Explore the future for Bristol’s creative industries and beyond in a schedule packed with panel sessions, workshops and more.

Digital Bristol Week is being produced by the BBC in partnership with the University of the West of England, Creative Skillset, Bristol Media, Bristol City Council, Bristol University, Creative England and the Pervasive Media Studio.
