This scheme was an example of how Connecting Bristol successfully worked with the UK Government’s Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) programme to help Bristol businesses get a superfast broadband connection.  Government funding for the scheme has now been fully committed and the scheme closed to new applications in October 2015

The scheme was designed to accelerate the accessibility of fast, reliable internet connectivity for SMEs, registered charities, social enterprises and sole traders.  The scheme provided grants of up to £3,000 to help with the cost of connecting to a superfast broadband connection, helping to deliver the following benefits:

  • Growing and accessing new markets through better communication with customer and suppliers;
  • Increased security through fast secure backup of data;
  • Increased productivity and improving customer service through faster upload and download speeds;
  • Increased efficiency and employee effectiveness.

Find out more about how the UK Government is helping the roll out of superfast broadband  Around 55,000 vouchers for superfast broadband connections were issued to SMEs nationwide during the lifetime of the scheme.
