From online petitioning to internet campaigning, Bristol is the best ‘European City for eDemocracy’ according to the 6th Worldwide Forum on eDemocracy, which was held in France last year.
Encouraging civic participation and community action via the internet is key to Bristol City Council strategy and showcase projects include the pilot Campaign Creator, a series of easy-to-use tools that will allow anyone to set up and manage their own local campaign, on any issue that’s important to them.
Bringing councillors closer to citizens through webcasts, online discussions and live chats has also been a major part of the strategy including several initiatives aimed at increasing youth engagement through the citizenship curriculum.
