The Momentum Group

In April 2005 the Momentum group was formed by a group of people who had seen an ‘E-city’ competition identified in a March 2005 Government paper. Passionate about Bristol and its chances of winning such a competition, this voluntary group started to meet and discuss the issues, long before other cities has started formulating plans. When the Digital Challenge was formerly announced, Connecting Bristol was taken on as the official name of the city’s bid and the activities that surround it, and a core team was appointed to produce and manage the bid.

Still feeding into Connecting Bristol, the Momentum Group consists of a cross section of people and organisations which includes political leaders, council departments, creative industries, educationalists, health, police and fire, technology experts, academics and the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.

Momentum Group meetings are open to anyone and held regularly (see the events page), allowing people in the city to question, feed into and help shape the Connecting Bristol vision.
